End of Summer Report – a message from our Captain’s

The Ladies’ Section have had some great tennis over the Summer, with many new faces representing the Club in the League. The 1st Team performed really well and just missed out on promotion to Division 3, despite having to use players from a lower squad to cover injuries and unavailability due to exams. The 2nds and 3rds had great fun in their matches, and had some tremendous (long and friendly) battles; both came 7th in the respective Leagues. We had some scrumptious Match Suppers, thanks to all those ladies who catered for the teams. Some were so good we almost had to throw the opposition out to get home!

The Ladies are again entering four Teams in the Winter Floodlit League, what a hardy bunch we are! All of those new to League tennis are keen to keep going and are eager to get started once again. Over half the Ladies are now playing League Tennis for the Club, and due to the success of the Wednesday and Sunday morning socials, we are fielding a 2nd Mixed team this Winter.

The Ladies and Men’s competitions in Singles and Doubles are progressing; Finals Day will 16th of September, commencing at 12 noon. There will be Pimms, Beer, a BBQ, Tea and Cakes and some cracking tennis to be had, so get yourselves down there cheer on our Champions and, needless to say, all visitors are very welcome.

The Mixed Doubles Tournament is to be held on Saturday 23rd September, please sign up for it. If you would like we can even find you a partner. In October we are holding the Derek Sledge Tournament, with a difference…….. fancy tasting a Craft Beer (or alternative) between sets?

The Ladies Christmas get together will be on 18th December.

We hope you are getting what you want out of playing tennis at ELTC, making friends, having fun and keeping fit. If you have any suggestions, we are keen to listen, just grab a member of Committee and have a chat. Oh, and don’t forget to encourage friends to join, the more the merrier.
