End of Summer Report – a message from the captains

A message from Mich our men’s captain

The summer has flown by for the Men’s section and although it may not be reflected in the final league standings, having watched as many matches as I could when not playing for the 3rds I think there has been a lot of great tennis played.

In terms of raw facts the final standings were 1st Team -7th , 2nd Team 6th , 3rd Team 6th. Good luck to all in the coming winter league where we are entering 4 teams.

In total 25 men played for the club which represents approximately half the Men’s section so although small we have a very active playing membership. This despite quite a long list of players unavailable due to various injuries. We have welcomed many teams to the club and my overall impression is that we are seen as great hosts.

On top of all the league play  Wednesday and Sunday Socials seem to be pretty well attended so I am glad everyone is getting a chance to mix with other club members.

If you add events like the Bring a Friend and the Wimbledon Turbo tournaments you can see how busy the summer has been.

The only low was the Open day when the torrential rain may have been the cause for the lack of visitors. However we had a great turnout from members so thanks again.

The men’s competitions in singles and doubles is in progress with the finals day soon on the 16th of September – More information will be available soon but last year it was a great day and lets try make it a great day again.

I Hope you are getting what you want out of playing tennis at ELTC, making friend and keeping fit – what is there not to like about that?
