Please contact her on isobeldurston@yahoo.co.uk or on 07720499792 for any information or to raise any concerns.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Welfare Officer Role Description <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Welfare Officer is responsible for promoting safeguarding within their venue and working with others to ensure a safe and inclusive environment is achieved. The Welfare Officer must not be a member of the venue\u2019s coaching team and should not be related to a member of the coaching team.<\/p>\n<p>Main duties<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work with others in the club to promote safeguarding, diversity and inclusion and ensure compliance with the LTA\u2019s minimum standards for venue registration<\/li>\n<li>Work with others in the club to ensure safeguarding and diversity and inclusion information, including policies, reporting procedures and details of the venue Welfare Officer are visible and available<\/li>\n<li>Work with others in the club to promote the venue\u2019s Code of Conduct(s)<\/li>\n<li>Ensure safeguarding and diversity and inclusion is on the agenda at committee meetings<\/li>\n<li>Act as the first point of contact for all children and adults where concerns about welfare, discrimination, poor practice or abuse are identified<\/li>\n<li>Work with the LTA Safeguarding Team when concerns arise within the venue<\/li>\n<li>Maintain contact details for the LTA Safeguarding Team and key statutory agencies<\/li>\n<li>Contact the Local Authority children\u2019s or adults\u2019 social care teams and the police about concerns where appropriate<\/li>\n<li>Work with the LTA Safeguarding Team to facilitate audits of the venue in relation to the minimum standards<\/li>\n<li>Work with the Committee\/Management and LTA to facilitate the completion of any action plan to address the results of an audit<\/li>\n<li>Work with others in the venue to ensure the relevant people at the venue have completed a satisfactory criminal records check<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Skills and traits<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tactful and discrete<\/li>\n<li>Able to resolve conflict<\/li>\n<li>Engaging and supportive<\/li>\n<li>Approachable and trustworthy<\/li>\n<li>Good listener and friendly<\/li>\n<li>Caring and understanding<\/li>\n<li>Professional and helpful<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Training<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Safeguarding and Protection in Tennis (or another course approved by the LTA) \u2013 required<\/li>\n<li>Time to Listen \u2013 required<\/li>\n<li>Yearly updates \u2013 optional<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Key relationships<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chairperson and management committee<\/li>\n<li>Coaches<\/li>\n<li>Volunteers at the venue<\/li>\n<li>All members \u2013 junior and senior, plus parents\/carers of junior members<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Time commitment<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Attendance at key venue events, such as open days and junior competition<\/li>\n<li>Attendance at management committee meetings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Criminal records check<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Essential for this role \u2013 see here for more information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our Welfare Officer is now Isobel Durston.
